What are the most common ways to diagnose diabetes?

Posted on September 10, 2011

I know urine tests and blood tests could be administered but I was told by someone that urine tests won't even be able to tell if you have diabetes... that you'll end up having to get a blood test to determine if you do have diabetes. Then what's the point of getting a urine test?
Thanks in advance :)

What are the health benefits of cottage cheese and peanut butter at bedtime?

Posted on July 17, 2011

So I keep hearing about eating cottage cheese and peanut butter at bedtime. I know it has something to do with slow digestive proteins, but can someone please explain this to me in normal everyday person terms? I am by no means a nutritionist and this combo was suggested to me and I just need to know why it helps...particularly with fitness goals. thanks in advance!

Mid-back pain – home remedies, non-prescription help?

Posted on May 30, 2011

I injured my back about a week and a half ago (I believe it was from being a bit hunched over while being torn in half by menstrual cramps). The painful area is in a band across my back, about as wide as my hand, the bottom of the painful area being right about at the bottom of my ribs. I don't have medical insurance, so all I can afford to do in terms of professional help is to go to the chiropractor (which I am). Does anyone have any advice on supplements, home treatments/remedies, exercises, and over-the-counter treatment? I'm in quite a bit of pain and have been missing a lot of work. Thanks in advance for any help.

I want to know the mechanics of lower back pain.?

Posted on May 20, 2011

I've search all the sites and they all talk about how it happens or why it happens, or how to address it, but none talk about the mechanics of lower back pain.

I want to know why, one day, I'm fine, the next day I do something athletic, and my lower back hurts like hell. In this pain mode, I'm basically crippled. But its wierd because there is nothing mechanical I can feel wrong. Where and how does the pain manifest itself ? Nerve damage perhaps, but then, why in a few days does it go away ?

Thanks in advance those of you who really understand the mechanics of it all.
