Help and Facts with Tooth Health?

Posted on February 8, 2011

Okay, first off, I know most of this if not all is my own doing and fault, secondly I am going to see a dentist when I can afford to, as I have no insurance.

Now, I am 24 male, I have not had any cavities and only had one tooth pulled due to it being broken (molar) I got lazy in my teen years and early 20's and only brushed once a day, didn't floss or use mouthwash, and up until I moved out at 19, I had a dentist visit and cleaning annually. Now I am starting the new year right and I have been brushing twice or three times a day, 2 minutes each, with mouthwash and trying to floss every day (it is a pain though).

My question/concern is, my gums are VERY sensitive now and feel like I brushed maybe too hard? or they aren't used to me brushing so often? As well my teeth are clean and white but down by the gum line I can't get the plaque off no matter how hard I brush.

What is the best way to take care of my teeth, best products, and what NOT to do?

I use ACT mouthwash and Aquafresh toothpaste with a medium bristle and I have a soft bristle brush
Yeah could you message me on here through email or yahoo messenger? Since you are a dental assistant I would love to run some other questions and concerns by you! Thanks.

How do you get rid of back pain?

Posted on January 26, 2011

I've had extremely severe and sharp back pain in my upper and central back area for the past four months, due to a bad fall in gymnastics. I've gone to the doctor three times, the orthopedic once, have had teo x-rays done, and have been going to physical therapy for almost two months. There has been no relief. I've also tried heat, ice, resting it, avoiding sports and physical activity, laying in different positions, stretching, excercise, massage therapy, and basically every usual remedy. Please help me, I'm desperate.

White lines on teeth. How do u make them go away?

Posted on January 23, 2011

I got my braces off about a 3 weeks ago and i have like a whitish line in the middle of my teeth. It is not that noticable but I would like it gone. So how can i get it to go away. P.S. I can't get my teeth bleached. I'm to young, it would ruin my gums.
I brush my teeth like three times a day. And my denist said that whitening would ruin my gums or damage them.

Do I have gingivitis?

Posted on January 16, 2011

This is a re-post as I would like some clearer answers:

Hello,

I have not brushed my teeth for 3-4 years. I have done it a couple of times over the years. Not more than fifty times, most likely. I am starting to do it now, and that is permanent, twice a day. I will also start to floss as well.

I have absolutely no problems in my mouth at all after such a long amount of time without brushing. My gums looks fine, no pain in them, they aren't swollen, red, or anything for that matter. My teeth are fine, a bit yellow. The tips on some of them are broken but that is not relevant to me not brushing my teeth. I t happened when I was brushing my teeth by cracking my teeth together and most likely doing something in my sleep.

Overall, my mouth feels fine. I have no pain, nothing. When I do brush my teeth (Did it today for the first time in quite a while) There was some blood in the spit, but right after I was done brushing I did not notice any blood in my mouth, I was most likely only brushing too hard, no swollen gums, no pain, only little blood and that was only during the brushing, a second after washing the mouth I couldn't see anything.

Is there any chance that I have gingivitis (Considering I have no pain, so swollen gums, nothing...)? Is there any chance that I will get it because of this? Will brushing my teeth and flossing twice a day prevent things from happening in the future?

I am going to book a time with my dentist (I went there about two years into my "no brushing" break and they said my teeth were perfectly healthy). I just want to know about my risks....

Thanks.
Also, I brush three times a day, floss once a day and use listerine twice a day. Starting last week... But I never get any blood.

How to make my teeth look white?

II brush my teeth three times a day but I want them to look more white.

Is brushing three times a day, flossing twice, and using mouthwash twice bad for you?

Posted on December 26, 2010

So here's my dilemma: Plaque builds up very quickly in my teeth, so for the past few months I have been taking really good care of my teeth. I brush usually three times a day, but sometimes I forget and brush twice instead. I floss twice. Now, I want to use the listerine twice a day too, but I'm thinking brushing three times with toothpaste and using listerine twice may be a bit too hard for my enamel? What is more worth it, brushing twice and using listerine once or brushing three times and using no listerine?
