A layer of my ename/tooth chipped off?

Posted on May 31, 2011

I'm not really sure what just happened and right now I'm currently hysterical, so I'll try to sum this up.

I was sitting down and I ran my tongue over my front tooth and it felt rough on the very top. I picked at it (thinking it was something in my teeth or something) and something chipped off. It felt like an eggshell, and peeled off like peeling an eggshell. I'm guessing it was my enamel? Now there's about a 2-3 millimeter thick gap indent where it came out. It's small, but there.

I've been to the dentist recently being told that I have softened enamel due to illnesses and medicines prescribed and stuff like that. They gave me fluoride to put on my teeth but I never got around to it. I brush regularly and floss every other day. It wasn't hurting, but now it's hurting a little bit. (i'm not sure if that's just in my mind though)

What do I do? Tomorrow's Sunday so I doubt I can get an appointment anywhere. I'm also leaving for a week long school trip Wednesday and I have a full schedule Tuesday.

Please help ):

Can a piercing in the center of the tongue chip teeth?

Posted on May 27, 2011

I'm considering getting a tongue piercing towards the center of my tongue (the only place where I would get it...no horizontal piercings for me.)

When I look at the picture, I find it hard to believe that one could chip their teeth while wearing the appropriate size for their mouth.

Is it possible to damage teeth with a central tongue piercing?

I want one like this: http://images-cdn01.associatedcontent.com/image/A1313/131353/300_131353.jpg

Piercings and removal of wisdom teeth…?

Posted on May 24, 2011

I'm getting my wisdom teeth taken out in a week. When I went for my consultation, I had to take out my piercings for the x-rays. The only piercings of mine that I'm concerned about are my tongue, industrial, and lower cartilage piercings. I haven't been able to unscrew the ball yet on my industrial (though I've had it for almost 2 years), so I couldn't take it out for the x-ray, but it was alright. I put my lower cartilage piercing back in as soon as I could, but not my tongue because my mom was with me and she definitely wouldn't approve of it (Haa, I know). Anyway, it was out for about an hour and I had to work with it for a few minutes to get it back in. To my understanding, I need to take out all my piercings for the procedure of removing my wisdom teeth, even earrings in my lobes, and nose. Personally, the only two that seem to make sense to take out is my tongue and vertical labret since that's the area that will be worked upon, but I'm assuming that the metal may conflict with some equipment used? Anyway, I'm just wondering how long it would take for my industrial and tongue to actually close up? I'm not worried about me being physically capable of getting any other piercings back in right away other than my tongue, since I know I'm going to be pretty out of it afterwords. I guess the surgery is about 45 minutes to an hour... and I'm just really worried about my piercings closing up. :/

I've had my:
Industrial- Almost 2 years
Tongue- 3 months
Lower cartilage- Year and a half
Vertical Labret- Almost 2 years
Nose- 3 years
Lobes- Not worried about those closing up
Let's be friends. I post questions like this in search of ass holes like you.

Is it normal for a teeth/gums to feel a little affected from a tongue piercing.?

Posted on May 20, 2011

I got my tongue pierced Wednesday night & I`ve been dealing with the little regular side effects of getting one. BUT one feeling that I have gotten is from my teeth.

One of my front bottom teeth has that little feeling you get when you`re little . . . like it`s about to be loose.

The feeling got stronger . . . .then it faded away.
I haven`t hit my ring on my teeth., haven`t bit my teeth down on my ring or anything.
When I ran my fingers along my front bottom teeth, the feeling felt sore. The pain has gone, but I`m still worried about it.
Also is swelling under the chin && the throat area common.?

Because I`m ready to take it out now.

Any suggestions for repeat canker sores?

Posted on May 19, 2011

I've been getting canker sores for about 11 years now. I usually go a few months or even over a year in between "outbreaks". Which usually consists of one or two sores at a time. But about three months ago I got a huge canker sore on my left cheek, the next morning I had a second one on the left cheek, then two on the right cheek. Two on the left side of my tongue, one almost back in my throat. They take forever to heal, mostly cause they're so large but also because my cheeks are so irritated by the large sores they swell a little and my teeth constantly rub against them even when I all do is open my mouth or reflexively swallow. After two weeks they finally went away. Two weeks later they were back, all of them, the exact same spots. A month after the beginning of that outbreak the same batch returned again. This time with a little one on my left cheek by the corner of my mouth.
Any ideas on what's going on? Or, how to deal with it?
Anybody know of toothpaste brands that don't use sodium laurly sulfate?
What doctor do you go and see for canker sore issues? A general doctor, dentist, any others?
