Is there such a thing as brushing too much?

Posted on October 3, 2010

I'm pregnant and all I crave is brushing my teeth with Listerine toothpaste and a new toothbrush. After brushing for 10 minutes or so (refilling the brush with paste), I start to bite on the toothbrush until the bristles come off. I'm currently going through 1 tube of paste and about 3-4 toothbrushes a week. My question is, can I actually harm my teeth by doing this? Could I be damaging my tooth enamel?

Will drinking crystal light cause cavities?

Posted on October 1, 2010

I have dramatically decreased the amount of pop I drink. So I don't like plain water too much, so I've been drinking crystal light. Will it erode tooth enamel? I like it, and I feel like it shouldn't, even though its got citric acid( doesn't orange juice?). Please help me!
What I'm asking is the acid thats in it cause tooth enemel to erode, therefore making teeth succeptable to cavities. Any crystal light drinkers out there? Or a dentist?

My braces won't stay glued to my teeth. Alternative for massive problems?

Posted on September 28, 2010

I've had my braces on for about 2 weeks now. And about 8 brackets have popped off in total because they won't stay glued to my teeth. Apparently I have an awkward tooth enamel, so the glue doesn't stick.
My top teeth are very spaced out, so I don't know what else could fix these problems beside braces. What are some good alternatives to braces?

I Need to Find a Toothpaste with NO fluoride, SLS or Glycerin?

Posted on September 27, 2010

I want to know if there is a toothpaste that does not contain fluoride, Sodium Lauryl Sulphate and Glycerin.
Because:

Fluoride causes the fibers in your gums to detach from the tooth/teeth. SLS causes Mouth Ulcers and bad breath. and Glycerin makes a sticky film over teeth that takes 27 rinses to get off and prevents enamel re-mineralization .

I would like if possible to find a toothpaste that contains Xylitol, Calcium Phosphate and hydroxyapatite, if Possible.
Xylitol kills bacteria in the mouth and promotes the re-mineralization process. Calcium phosphate and hydroxyapatite help repair tooth enamel.

i would also like suggestions of tooth paste that contain anti bacterial oils such as mint oil.

P.s. I already use Grant's toothpaste, Though i do not like the fact that it contains Glycerin.

Which is a better, stronger anti-septic mouth rinse, hydrogen peroxide or cetylpyridinium chloride?

Posted on September 25, 2010

Cetylpyridinium chloride is in a lot of mouth rinses but is it as powerful as hydrogen peroxide? Is cetylpyridinium chloride corrosive to the tooth enamel like hydrogen peroxide?

Is there any validity to what I say?

Posted on September 23, 2010

I propose that a diet soley composed of raw meats, fruits, vegitables, and natural beverages and void of any processed foods or refined sugar, one could significantly improve (or possibly regenerate) the quality of their tooth enamel without any intervention from a specialist. comments?

If I get a smiley piercing with a barbell will that reduce the risk of tooth problems?

Posted on September 20, 2010

So, I've been wanting to get a smiley for a while now and before any piercing I always check out the pros and cons. I have read smileys can cause irritated gums and can wear down tooth enamel. I was wondering if this problem could be reduced if I wore a barbell instead of a circular barbell.
Umm.. ok. So i like to live in the moment so i dont care about not having it later in life. Also you can see the smiley piercing with a barbell when you smile. Thats why its called a smiley.
