Dental help?

Posted on January 4, 2011

Okay, my daily routine is usually:
1. rinse for 30 seconds with Agent Coolblue mouthwash
2. brush for two minutes with soft or medium bristled toothbrush and crest toothpaste
3. rinse with water
4. floss

When I floss, I floss my bottom front teeth the most because they are really close together and I have noticed that I get a lot of plaque when I floss there. After I do, those teeth get kind of loose, then they tighten up again. Is this normal?

Also, how do I prevent from grinding my teeth at night? I wake up and my teeth feel funny but a while later they're fine.

Thanks!

Red gums and a metallic taste in mouth?

Posted on October 7, 2010

I've heard these are both symptoms of gingivitis, which can lead to gum diesease, but I don't have any of the other symptoms. My gums sometimes bleed when brushing, but not very often.
I'm really worried about my teeth, I recently went to the dentist and he said it was just down to poor oral health. However, he didn't say what it was or how to treat it, and I brush well twice a day for two minutes.
What do you think could be wrong with me, do you think that it's serious and how can I prevent it from getting worse? Thank you so much, answers greatly appreciated.

How to get rid of white spots on your teeth?

Posted on September 26, 2010

I brush my teeth two minutes three times a day. I have an electric toothbrush, but when I woke up this morning I had a white spot on my front tooth.
How do I get rid of it? (even though I brush my teeth excessively)

I wear a retainer at night, could that be the reason?

how can you get rid of bad breath?

My breath stinks unless i have a mint or gum in my mouth. I brush my teeth (and tongue) twice a day and use mouth wash. but still bad breath. I brush past the reccomended two minutes, and use mouth wash for a minute and a half. Any suggestions?
I brush my tongue too.

Am I brushing my teeth too much?

Posted on August 18, 2010

I have seen quite a few questions asking if it is possible to brush too much on here. Most of the people asking brush way more than me. I brush three times per day and sometimes, if I eat something that might stick to my teeth I will brush again.

In the morning I brush with an electric toothbrush (Oral B Vitality with the spinning attachment only) for about three minutes. I concentrate on teeth only. Immediately after using the electric brush I brush with a standard soft brush for about two minutes hitting the teeth one more time and the rest of my mouth.

In the afternoon I brush my teeth with the standard soft toothbrush for about 4 minutes.

At night is where it gets a little extreme. Before I go to bed I brush for 20 minutes with the electric brush followed by the regular brush for four minutes.

Every time I go to the dentist he tells me I have NO plaque whatsoever and my teeth are in great shape. I don't even have to floss because that electric brush gets everything. Am I brushing too much? My dentists (I'm in the military so I have a few) say no but I wanted a few extra opinions.

Can you ever brush you're teeth TOO MUCH? (read details)?

Okay, so since I'm soon getting braces, for some reason I've had this weird obsession to brush my teeth like every two hours (basically right after I eat ANYTHING)!! I don't have the braces yet, but I'm getting some on Tuesday I believe, and I got spacers. For some reason I've just really have been brushing my teeth VERY VERY often. Is it ever possible to "over brush?" Like maybe if you brush so often that your enamel starts to wear away? It's kind of a weird idea but things pop into my head, so I'm just wondering. I know brushing your teeth after almost every meal helps break down plaque and keep your teeth clean, but to me it seems obsessive, and with my idea, I'm wondering. Please, is it ever possible to brush your teeth TOO MUCH?
Oh, I should add something. I brush softly, but in places twice, and I use a soft bristle brush. After thinking about it, it is about every two hours that I brush, since I don't eat that often.
I also brush in circles on the outside and it, and I clean the gums and the teeth that are coming in in the back (the wisdom teeth). Then I floss in between all the teeth (except the ones with the spacers). I also brush my tongue a little. I'm not sure if I forgot to mention anything else that I do, hopefully not...
*and in. I brush for around two minutes, and try not to brush too hard. I only use mouthwash once a day, right before I go to bed. (it says on the bottle only to use it once anyway) I think that's all.
OMG Sorry here's another..When I said I brush on the outside and in I mean the front and back of the teeth. I also brush the top of the teeth (the crown..? I'm not sure if that's what it's called lol) softly, but a few times. Okay this should be the last. I'm very sorry lol.

I’m afraid my teeth’s enamel might wear out…

I've been using a Sonicare electric toothbrush for the past three months, with a timer built into it. It lets me brush my teeth for at least two minutes, which I think is a little long. I might be just paranoid, but I am younger so will it effect my enamel in a negative way if I brush too long? I also use floss, by the way.
