Toothpaste and Toothbrush Question and Bad Breath?

Posted on August 13, 2010

Hi. I was wondering if you could tell me the best, most healthy, and environmentally friendly toothpaste and toothbrush on the market?
Seems like there are just so many now a days and all of these toothpastes contain bleaching and whitening elements, which just sound nasty and harmful.

Oh, and does anyone know a good way to get rid of bad breath?

Thanks!

  1. Good observation on the toothpaste. Have you ever noticed that most toothpastes have poison warnings? Go ahead, check your tube. But it’s OK because we spit it out, right?! That’s ridiculous since the oral mucosa lining of the mouth has an absorption rate of 90%–even better than IVs.

I use the Thieves Toothpaste mentioned on the same site. I like the PLUS version because it contains more essential oils and seems stronger. But most people like the ULTRA version because the texture is most similar to what they are used to.

An ingredient in the vast majority of toothpastes is SLS. (Sodium Laurel Sulfate…originally created as an engine degreaser and now used in shampoos, etc as a foaming agent.) SLS has been shown to stimulate canker sores, cause allergic reactions, and slow development of eye proteins.

    Don’t know about brushes. I use a Sonicare electric/ultrasonic/whatever.

  2. I use Arm and Hammer Baking Soda and Peroxide toothpaste. Most of the other toothpastes are the same, look on the back where it says "active ingredient" and you’ll see sodium fluoride. Now its a brand preference, whichever tastes better, feels better in your mouth. This is only done by trial and error. I like the toothpaste I use because of the clean feeling I get afterward from the baking soda.

As for bad breath, here’s how to cure your problem. Brush your teeth three times a day. After brushing your teeth, floss. Flossing gets the particles between your teeth out which cause bad breath when they start decomposing in your mouth. Also make sure you keep drinking fluids because a dry mouth is a breeding ground for bad breath. Don’t use mouth wash like Listerine a lot because it contains alcohol which can dry out your mouth.

    Hope this helps, stay healthy.

  3. tooth paste cane do little to maintain dental helth it is the way by which you brush and clean your teeth and gums which really help maintain oral hygene. how ever oral hygene can help prevent only bad reath emanating from uncleaned and improperly maintained teeth and gum.
conmming to tooth paste, you can use any good brand whic wont be too sensitive for ou. the selection of brush is also an importent factor.
if want to give atry for ahome made one take pinch of fine salt and fine dust of corbon made out of paddy husk charred. the common salt is anti bacterial and the paddy husk charcoal corbon is aodour remover.
now the bad breath ,this can bedue to infected sinusitis cavity , this needs ent specialist to treat.
may be due to gastro entryology proble like ulser .etc this needsto be treated by a gastrro entryologist.
maybe due toinfected gums, or carrie, this needs tobe treated by a dentist.
may be due tonsils, throat and lung infection needs to be treated by a physician.
