What's wrong with my bottom teeth? (picture)?

Posted on September 9, 2010

I couldn't really get a good picture, but my bottom teeth have been this way for some months now. It looks very similar to plaque at the bottom but I can brush and scrape as much as I want and nothing will come off, it's pretty hard. Is it my gums receding or something?

  1. When was your last checkup at the dentist? It’s very important to go every 9 months, or 6 months if you are having dental problems. You’re gums are definitely receding due to a build up of "hard plaque" which is also called Calculus (not the math word) which cannot be brushed off because it has hardened so much. You need to get your teeth cleaned immediately, and probably the dentist will prescribe a rinse or mouthwash that will help kill bacteria that are affecting your gums and causing them to be so red and inflamed. If you let the calculus continue to build up how it is now, you will end up losing your teeth because the gums will recede below your jaw bone and your teeth will fall out. Hate to make it sound so awful but it really does happen.
When they clean your teeth you will probably have sensitivity because your root surfaces will be exposed so switch to sensodyne tooth paste or crest for sensitive teeth.

  2. I think these are your bone.

  3. your gums do look like as if they are receding not unless they always looked like that i suggest you go to the dentist. maybe your teeth just need cleaning too. i heard your suppose to go the dentist and get a cleaning every six months.

  4. That’s because you have an accumulation of calculus. Calculus is hard and you will not be able to scrape it off on your own. Only a dentist or hygienist can do it, they have to use instruments that are specially designed to scale the calculus off. From the picture you have an advanced case and should schedule an exam with a dentist as soon as possible.

  5. hi your teeth need whitening ,not by a commercial product, but a dentist could give a person a hollywood smile to make it look terrific it should be done by a dentist.you culd be right about youre gums receding, check with your dentist.
